In Deja Vu, gesture and structure converge in a layered meditation on perception and recurrence. Sweeping lilac arcs traverse the surface with deliberate rhythm, intersecting fields of saturated cobalt, muted blush, and gestural black linework. The composition oscillates between density and restraint, revealing a dynamic tension between control and instinct.
Marks emerge and dissolve within the layered surface, suggesting fragments of memory — familiar yet unplaceable. Areas of opacity contrast with moments of translucence, allowing earlier decisions to remain visible beneath the final strokes. This interplay creates depth not only spatially, but psychologically.
At 48 by 60 inches, the work commands architectural presence while maintaining compositional refinement. The natural wood float frame offers warmth and grounding, reinforcing the painting’s balance of immediacy and intention.
